IPL Photofacials

If you look at your skin and are unhappy with any spots, spider veins, redness, or discoloration that you may have, an IPL photofacial may be right for you.

IPL (intense pulse light) photofacial treatments are among the safest light-based treatments available. Also called a “fotofacial”, “facial rejuvenation”, or “photorejuvenation”, IPL photofacial treatments are popular due to their effectiveness and the fact that the treatments require no downtime. Although they are called photofacials, this procedure can be done on other parts of the skin, such as the neck, chest, hands, and feet.

How Do IPL Photofacials Work?

Not to be confused with LED photofacials (which don’t achieve the same results), IPL photofacials use intense light pulses to penetrate the skin deeply in order to target different colors. The intense light also helps to produce collagen, which leaves the skin smoother and softer than it was before. Because this procedure not only treats and improves skin problems but also leaves it plumper and healthier-looking, it is a very popular service.

IPL Photofacial Sessions

What Are IPL Photofacial Sessions Like?

During an IPL photofacial session, you will first be given protective eyewear and ultrasound gel to cool the skin. The average amount of time for each session is about 15 minutes, with very minimal discomfort for the patient. Results will appear gradually over the weeks after your treatment. The amount of IPL photofacials you will need will depend on what you are treating, what your goals are, and how your specific skin responds to the light. In addition to the IPL treatments, your nurse at Pure Touch will inform you on at-home skin care techniques to help your skin remain its healthiest.

Are You A Candidate For IPL Photofacial?

Because the IPL technology works by targeting certain colors in the skin, not everyone is an ideal candidate for these treatments. Factors such as skin color, what type of medication you may be taking, and whether you may be pregnant will need to be discussed with us before treatments can begin. The best candidates for IPL photofacials are those with white, un-tanned skin that is still fairly elastic; however, our nurses will be happy to have a free consultation with you to determine if IPL is a good fit for you and answer all your questions related to IPL Photofacial.
